Summer’s End Maternity – Hannah & Lee

Filed in: Family, Maternity

Like the session I posted earlier today, we also used my home for the shooting location of this session. Maybe I’m a little biased, but I think the late-summer-fall evening light in my front and side yard is just the dreamiest.

For this session, we used spots around our pond and in my (at that time) SUPER overgrown and out of control raised garden beds. Daniel and I started putting up a cute picket fence around the raised beds last summer, and I’m excited to finally get that finished this year when it starts to warm back up. In fact, I’ve been working away on a few projects for my yard this year that I think is going to make it SO MUCH MORE epic in photos.

I could bust, I want to share so badly, but I’m going to wait to start shouting from the rooftops until they are at least *almost* finished if not finished.

Back to the Blanton’s when I shot this session I had been in what felt like a creative rut, busy season and working around harsh or weird light can really suck it out of a photographer at times, but when this session happened the combination of this perfect golden light and this little family that I adore, it was everything my soul had been needing.

TEST SHOT. No one ever surprises me like this. I laughed so hard.

Is the glow in the raised beds not out of control in all the good ways! It’s incredibly magical when this happens!

Swish, swish and pink painted toes for the sweet baby girl Hannah was carrying.

For this next part I just wanted to say I REALLY WANTED Hannah to go into the water in this, and getting in water where you can’t see your feet is what her nightmares are made of.

But y’all, she thought about it in the days leading up to this session and decided to be brave, and she. got. in. the. water.

Thank you for trusting me, Hannah. I’m so SO so glad we didn’t see a snake, because these were worth it!
