Western Kentucky Hometown Engagement Session – Kyle + Malyn

I met up with Kyle and Malyn in downtown of their small downtown for their engagement session. It was August, super toasty outside, but with the cute little bed and breakfast we shot at, we beat the heat in the *mostly* shade.

I loved Mayln’s outfit choices for her engagement session. This first dress, I, myself had been looking at on the J Crew website for months but had never pulled the trigger, so it was fun to see it in real life!

This b&b is right across the street from the church their getting married in, and it is SO cute.

This next building is the old Post Office in Calhoun. I just liked it, and love how you can see more of their little town in the reflection of the glass!

I wish I would’ve grabbed a behind the scenes shot of this next location next to the river. It’s proof that a spot doesn’t have to be super pretty to make gorgeous images, you just need pretty light and a little creativity.

Out to Malyn’s family’s land for the rest of this session. Again, knocking wardrobe out of the park. I love the vibe of the flowy dress, with bare feet next to the lake. It makes me feel like there should be a soft breeze blowing.

Except if I remember right, there definitely was not. 😂

I would say 50% of my sessions we end up with a shot like this next one. It’s real life. It makes me laugh every time. Because while I could fill this post with 100% uber romantic or joyful shots — “look here” is a hilarious reality.

However, this next one is real life too. And it’s SO joyful.

Malyn and I both crack up at this image. Every engagement session gets to a point about halfway through where I stop posing and just give action guides. It makes it look more like there are two people in the image instead of three (the couple and the person who posed them), in this case though it became two people and a dog bent on saving Malyn from the “grab and swing” action.

I love it because there is so much life and emotion.

See you two again in June! 😉
