The week we all reached our one-year pandemic anniversary. What a weird anniversary, that I’m sure most of us didn’t expect was in the cards when we were all told to shelter in place last year at this time.
For myself, as a small business owner, particularly one in the wedding industry remember struggling with months of anxious energy wondering what would happen to my brides and the future of my business.
What a year it was.
A lot of us have learned to pivot. A lot of us are tired of hearing the word pivot.
But, nethertheless, we have persisted.
While the world shut down in March, it was mid-April I think when I decided to do Porch Sessions for Daniel’s family, one of my friends, and one of my couple’s who’s wedding was supposed to be that day.
If you didn’t see other photographers porch sessions last year, a porch session is when your family came out on their porch or in their yard and a photographer captures their images from the road.
The night before sessions, I mapped out my route and sent out times to everyone on my list. It was early morning when I started this project early one Saturday and late afternoon when I finished.
It ended up being one of the most heart filling days, for me personally, during early pandemic when so much was unknown.
Not only did I have a lot of fun with this, by the time I returned to my house around 5, my car was filled with all kinds of random presents from banana bread, to lemon cake, to thank you notes, to Starbucks cards.
I didn’t set out on this project with the intention of getting anything in return, but the gratefulness out of everyone who’s homes I stood in front of blew me away.
Follow along for more beautiful love stories, life on the farm and every day encouragement. #twoarrowsphoto #danisquared
