Before Covid uprooted everyone’s wedding’s in 2020 forcing most to move to more intimate ceremonies in backyards, there was Drew and Stacy, who were a year ahead of the trend. However, their intimate backyard wedding in Owensboro was their Plan A.
The downpour of June thunderstorms in Kentucky was not part of that plan. It rained and rained, as it will on a Kentucky summer day. So much so all the table linens had to be rolled onto the tables to prevent water from seeping up before guests arrived.
I’ve said this possibly 102 times, but I love how rainy shoots stretch my creativity. There is this wonderful flow that happens where my clients just kinda surrender to the weather and put trust in me that I am going to create beautiful images for them that still perfectly represent their day.
Some of my most favorite images I’ve ever created were the result of very bad weather.
Another thing I love about rainy days, it adds this extra level of intimacy. I don’t have to create it or draw it out of people, it is just effortlessly there in each image.
Rain also makes greens POP, and if you didn’t know, green is my favorite color, so you will rarely catch me desaturating them in editing, I love a good rainy summer day green.
Follow along for more beautiful love stories, life on the farm and every day encouragement. #twoarrowsphoto #danisquared
