THE INDEX

Wayback Wednesday — Dialessi Wedding

I did it! I escaped! …Kentucky that is. I’ve been saying for the past month the only way I’m going to get caught up on editing is if I get where people can’t find me. I’m of course joking. Sorta.

Daniel is speaking in Denver this week at a beef sustainability conference so I decided to tag along to cheer him along from the sidelines and to tuck away and edit in coffee shops.

I wanted to get away from that whole hotel by the airport environment (even though, let’s be honest, our hotel room is nicer than our home.) so I snuck off to Golden, Co for the afternoon to work.

Being back here has me reminiscing on my first visit to Golden, back when I was still a baby wedding photog, Daniel and I had shot maybe 5 weddings together and were still learning to work together in that setting.

As I look back on this wedding from two years ago, I can’t help but think of how different I would do it now — organization, flow, posing, editing… mainly the editing, and shooting the entire day in 4-inch heels. I have no idea what I was thinking on that last part, they were beautiful shoes, but my feet paid for it.

Even though it was back in the beginning it is still, to this day, a wedding I am obsessed with. The gorgeous details, the food, the venue… but my two personal favorite parts the bride—who is my gorgeous cousin Kristin—and the florals, which were all done by my aunt.

Fun Fact, one of my favorite parts of my own wedding were the florals — also done by my Aunt Charissa. We went back and forth on the phone for a couple of months, she assembled what she could at her home in Wyoming and then transported everything from Wyoming to my grandparent’s house in Tulsa, Oklahoma. From there, a team consisting of my grandparents, aunts, uncle and cousins made my winter wonderland floral dream come to life, and as anyone in attendance will tell you, it was stunning.

A year and a half later, our small, but mighty family came together again, but this time for Kristen and Jesse, we all chipped in different ways, from my brother-in-law live streaming the wedding so my grandparents, whom weren’t able to travel to Colorado, could still “be there” to Daniel and I as the wedding photographers.

So please enjoy this look back at two years, take in what a beautiful bride my, already gorgeous, cousin was, how sweet her and Jesse’s first look was, the amazing floral work of my incredibly talented Aunt Charissa and how much my work has evolved in two years. Ha!

Kristin’s instant tears upon seeing Jesse during their first look. I get emotional every time I look at these.

Oh, Daniel…

The beautiful mother-of-bride enjoying a well-deserved glass of wine after all her hard work. I didn’t lie to you, did I?! The florals deserve all the heart eyes.

More Kristin tears during her dad’s speech. I love the way Jesse is looking at her here.

I’m just here blending in on the dance floor, y’all.

My forever wedding date and my forever second shooter.
