Want to read a little bit of irony? My last engagement session of 2017 was my first wedding of 2018.
People always ask, how late is too late to do an engagement session? And my answer to that is as long as it’s enough time for me to edit before the wedding, then it isn’t too late. I’ve had couples not do their engagement session until the weekend BEFORE the wedding date. Logistics, schedules and a variety of reasons come into play for waiting, but as long as my couple DO an engagement session before their wedding day — even if it’s the day before, then I’m happy.
I am such a firm believer in engagement sessions they are actually complimentary with all my wedding packages. Read as, you’re not getting out if it.
Why?
A couple of years ago I noticed a drastic difference in the comfort and trust in me from couples I had done an engagement session with and those I had not. Those that had, understand the process to capturing those personal and natural photos that are so characteristically in line with my style.
Also, since we had spent more time together than just signing a contract and paying invoices, I found that my couples whom had a Two Arrows engagement session trusted Daniel and I so much more to handle whatever their wedding day threw at all of us.
I’m a big believer in hiring wedding vendors you trust! When you trust the people putting together one of the greatest day’s of your life, then you can step back and let go of the technical details and just be present in the moment.
Okay… Off my soap box, let’s talk about Jake and Libby. Libby came to after being a bridesmaid in one of my August weddings. Her engagement was short. I met with her in August, we did their engagement session in December and then she was married early January,
Because they had already had an engagement session with a different photographer, they opted for a short and sweet e-session with me. Just enough for us all to get to know each other better and for them to feel comfortable in front of my camera.
I loved how understated festive this was right before Christmas at a tree farm with the colors they chose for their outfits. I ALSO loved that they brought their tiny furbaby along. An engagement session with a kitten was definitely a first for me, but Mew was a total trooper.
Follow along for more beautiful love stories, life on the farm and every day encouragement. #twoarrowsphoto #danisquared
